Palm Beach County

Palm Beach County is situated on the eastern coastline of Florida. With a population of over 1 million residents, the county contains a variety of cities. It is the largest county in Florida with an area of 2,386 miles.

The name of the county comes from Palm Beach, the original settlement in the area. Currently the county is home to nearly 40 cities and is often featured in the news. In the 2000 election, one of the counties to be recounted was Palm Beach County. This ended up turning the state in favor of George W Bush by 537 votes. In 2001, the first series of Anthrax Attacks took place in Boca Raton, one of the cities in the county.

Palm Beach County has its own international airport which sees over 6 million travelers pass through every year. It also has the 5th largest amount of schools in Florida, due to its relatively young demographic makeup.
